The Science of Anti-Aging®
Since Ponce de Leon began his quest to find the Fountain of Youth, man has been searching to find ways to live longer and live healthier.  After years of diligent research, we are proud to introduce the ultimate in anti-aging with our new and natural longevity supplement.  As with all YouthFlow products, our goal was to develop a combination of potent, yet safe, ingredients that work synergistically together in a proprietary formulation with the potential to make significant contributions to healthy aging and longevity.

Resveratrol Basics
In recent years, researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School have come upon a remarkable molecule that has incredible potential in terms of its positive applications to human health and longevity.  This antioxidant, known as resveratrol, is found in 70 different species of plants, which is produced when the plant is put under stress.  Resveratrol is more widely known as a red wine molecule due to its concentration in red grapes.  While the levels of resveratrol are significantly higher in some grapes, such as pinot noir, muscadine grapes have the highest level of resveratrol, particularly, trans-resveratrol, which activates the Sirtuin 1 gene.  Trans-resveratrol it thought to mimic calorie restriction.  That is, it switches on the same gene that calorie restriction activates, Sirtuin 1, which is a DNA repair gene that also promotes longevity.

YouthFlow Resveratrol Advantage is a highly researched natural supplement that was formulated to support and enhance a long and healthy life.

Muscadine Grape Skin
Muscadine grapes are scientifically known as Vitis rotundifolia grapes and are native to the Southeastern United States, where they have been extensively cultivated since the 16th century.  They can be found growing wild, and in the backyards of many southern homes.

The muscadine grape differs from other grapes in several ways.  First, the most notable difference is the thick skin of the grape, which gives the muscadine grapes a natural resistance to disease, fungi, and insects.  It is where much of the antioxidant power of the muscadine grape is stored and accounts for 40% of the weight of the grape.  Second, muscadine grapes have an extra set of chromosomes containing genes that allow them to produce a unique balance of phytonutrients that are virtually absent in other grapes.  Third, the muscadine grape has significantly more antioxidant power than other grapes.  Based on the ORAC standard measurement, muscadine grapes have been measured as high as 6,800 per 100 grams, compared to 739 for red grapes.  The muscadine grape skins alone have about 6-8 times as much antioxidant capacity as whole blueberries.  The fourth main difference between muscadine grapes and other grapes is the amount of natural resveratrol and ellagic acid found in the skin of the muscadine.  These phytonutrients have been studied as powerful antioxidants that may have potent anti-cancer properties.

Within the skin of the Muscadine grape, it has recently been discovered that it contains piceatannol, which is a natural stilbene occurring in a number of plant species that has been shown to have beneficial effects on human health.  The compound can seldom be consumed by humans, because it occurs mostly in non-food plants, or in non-edible organs.  There are only a few plants reported to contain minute amounts of piceatannol and the scarcity of this compound impedes researchers from continuing to study its properties and health benefits.

Piceatannol has a very similar structure to resveratrol and, also, similar anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.  However, piceatannol may have much more potent biological activity and bioavailability than resveratrol.  Like resveratrol, piceatannol has been studied for its anti-cancer properties and some believe that is may be the superior agent of the two.

While the high ORAC value of Muscadine grapes is important, many scientists think that the disease-fighting benefits of fruits and berries is not just due to their ability to provide antioxidant protection.  It is also very likely that phenolic compounds like resveratrol and quercetin produce specific responses such as reducing inflammation and improving health of the heart and other organs.  Ellagic acid is another phenolic found in the muscadine grape in measurable amounts, and has been closely linked to anti-aging.

Our supplier of Muscadine grape skin, which contains resveratrol and piceatannol, as well as over 200 different phytonutrients, is the largest known source in the world.  The powder from the Muscadine grape skins used in our formulation comes directly from the vineyard so we can ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of our product.  The skin of the Muscadine grape is made into a powder using a patent-pending process to ensure that the valuable phytonutrients are retained in a concentrated form.  This process is confirmed by outside analysis to protect the integrity of the ingredient.

Pure Trans-Resveratrol Extract
The amount of trans-resveratrol varies greatly in wine.  Some estimates of the amount found in red wine are approximately 1.5 to 3 milligrams per liter, which is almost 34 ounces.  White wine has significantly less.  In order to provide the necessary amount of trans-resveratrol that many studies have suggested is optimal to human health, richer sources are often used.

One of the most potent sources of trans-resveratrol is found in an herb known as Polygonum cuspidatum root or Japanese Knotweed.  Our source of pure Polygonum cuspidatum root extract is standardized using the ProfileProven system to 50% trans-resveratrol.

ResVinol® - Pure Trans-Resveratrol and Red Wine Polyphenol Extract
ResVinol® delivers a powerful combination of pure concentrated trans-resveratrol and red wine polyphenols, which are key beneficial components of a healthy lifestyle associated with the Mediterranean Diet.  The resveratrol found in wine comes primarily from the skins of grapes used to make the wine.  Red wine contains significantly more resveratrol, specifically in the trans-resveratrol form.  Grapes contain numerous other phytonutrients, including polyphenol antioxidant compounds, which help to scavenge free radicals and reduce inflammation.

ResVinol is known as the Resveratrol Plus Ingredient because it provides the full benefits of both pure trans-resveratrol and a matrix of red wine grapes.  It is standardized on the most biologically active resveratrol trans-isomer, so that one gram of this extract has the resveratrol equivalent of 350 glasses of red wine, without the alcohol or calories.  The processing of the ingredient, using a new system of accuracy and purity, is standardized to 25% trans-resveratrol and 20% red wine polyphenols.  ResVinol is a new class of ingredient that supports cardiovascular health and adds the benefit of red wine polyphenols to enhance the antioxidant capacity of the extract and to promote longevity.

Pomegranate Extract Full-Spectrum
The word "pomegranate" comes from the Latin pomus (apple) and granatus (seeded), which has influenced the common name of this fruit in many languages.  The pomegranate has a history of cultivation for several millennia and is native to the region of Persia and the Himalayan ranges of India.  Introduced early to the American colonies, Thomas Jefferson planted pomegranate at his home in Monticello and it thrived in many southern colonies, such as South Carolina.

In the ancient Ayurveda medicine system, the pomegranate has extensively been used as a source of traditional remedies for thousands of years.  The pomegranate contains vitamin C and is considered a good source of vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid.  It also contains potassium and antioxidant polyphenols.

The most abundant polyphenols in the pomegranate are the tannins called ellagitannins formed when ellagic acid binds with a carbohydrate.  The fruit also contains punicalagins, which are unique pomegranate tannins with free-radical scavenging properties.  These tannins have shown in laboratory experiments that they have potential to make a positive impact on human health.  Punicalagins are absorbed into the human body and are thought to have dietary value as antioxidants.

The pomegranate used in our formulation is a full-spectrum extract that uses both the rind and the pulp of the fruit.  This extract is standardized to contain 75% polyphenols, 15% punicalagins, and 2.5% ellagic acid, which accurately reflects the nutritional composition of the fruit.  Unlike other pomegranate extracts that use up to 40% ellagic acid obtained from other fruits, our extract contains only ellagic acid from the pomegranate and is set at a percentage that best reflects the actual ellagic acid content of the fruit.  A pomegranate typically will have less than 4% ellagic acid.

Pomegranate is considered a heart-healthy fruit and supports the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system.  The pomegranate has also seen wide interest from researchers for its numerous applications for the maintenance of optimal human health and longevity.
